Hi there, my name is Patricia Petro. I am the lead web designer here at Sweet Solutions.
I am creative and artistic and love all things beautiful, delicious, inspiring, and incredibly awesome. I paint, draw, do digital art, dabble in photography, manage a couple of websites of my own, and design websites for others.
Much of my time is spent in my office. It is often difficult for me to tear myself away from my work. My desk area is an organized mess, littered with paper and files. Post-it notes cling to every hard surface. My To Do List is a mile long. I’m busy doing what I love, and I wouldn’t want it any other way.
A Bit About the Business—Sweet Solutions is a small, independent web design studio based in northwest OH USA. In business since 2002, we specialize in effective, affordable web design. The collective “we” used here and elsewhere on this site is technically me, myself, and I—Patricia Petro. I am solely responsible for design and development, client projects, site content, routine maintenance, blog entries, and all things creative. Tom Schmidt, my husband and brilliant IT, handles the tech side of things. He keeps computers, office machines, and software updated and running smoothly. Suzie Q, who wants no credit for her much-valued help, handles contracts and invoicing. ♥
Are you looking for an honest web designer?
I started designing websites way back in the early daze of DOS, when we were all Internet newbies. The “we” in this case was a clique of online women from around the world who were designing graphics and websites for personal use.

My first website, Inspiration for the Spirit—a lovely place to wander for poetry and inspiration to soothe the soul, was launched during the summer of 2002. Following that came Our Empty Nest, a lifestyle blog I still manage.
I taught myself HTML and CSS, picked up what I needed to know for more complex applications, and completed several college courses to hone my skills, including:
- Introduction to XHTML—XHTML markup and basic web page design principles, including hypertext links and graphics as well as the techniques that enhance and facilitate page creation.
- Web Usability and Interface Design—Basic web design principles and human computer interaction (HCI) concepts, including user/task analysis, content organization, navigation, evaluation, color, typography, multimedia, and accessibility.
- Web Imaging—Hands-on experience designing and optimizing web graphics using Photoshop and ImageReady software.
- Internet for Business—The process of using the Internet for business by creating effective, efficient web pages with an emphasis on branding and SEO.
I’ve also taken various other Internet workshops for web design and participated in webinars and industry discussions through the years.
My record in the web design industry is solid and consistent. I’ve created hundreds of websites in a wide variety of formats and styles using a combination of HTML/XHTML, PHP, CSS, jQuery, JavaScript, and Ajax. My designs have received praise from around the world for their originality and content.
I currently work exclusively in WordPress creating awesome websites and blogs using the Genesis framework.
I’m good at what I do. And though I could wax poetic about my passion for web design and the confidence I have in my own abilities, sometimes what others have to say is more important than anything I can tell you.
I would love to bring my energy, enthusiasm, strong work ethic, talents, and technical skills to your project. Browse through my portfolio. If you like my style, shoot me an email and let’s get started.
